The Waikato Medical Research Foundation was established in 1986 for the purposes of both promoting and funding medical research in the Waikato, and attracting new people to jobs both at the Hospital and the University.
To date, the Foundation has given $2.7 million in grants to a variety of research projects, carried out at the following institutions :
Waikato District Health Board, University of Waikato, University of Auckland / Waikato Clinical Campus, AgResearch, Polytech and private researchers.. The impact of this research can be felt in many fields in the medical profession.
The Foundation, through its fundraising initiative which commenced in 2013, is seeking more funds to help medical researchers in the Waikato region for the future.
